Diving
Fiji enjoys some of the best diving in the world. Its main
claim is the variety of outstanding soft corals that come
in many colors as well as the huge number of fish. Sharks
and sting rays can also be seen. The east and north islands
have the most virgin reefs with spectacular formations. Most
resorts have dive facilities and there are also live aboard
dive options for those looking for a dive vacation.
Family Vacations
Fiji is probably the most perfect destination on earth for
families with young children. The Fijian people are very family
oriented and wonderful babysitters. Their sense of fun and
relaxed aura means that children naturally warm to them immediately.
Babysitting for very young children is very affordable and
the care exceptional. For children aged 3 - 12 there are many
resorts with excellent Kids Clubs. This allows parents to
see as much or as little of their children as they please.
And the children have a great time in the Kids Clubs exploring
the beaches and island life. Parents can enjoy uninterrupted
meals and some romance of their own! Give your children and
yourself a vacation you will both enjoy.
Golf
Denarau Golf Club: 7,150 yard
resort golf course designed by Pannya Planning, Japan. Created
from a mangrove swamp with marine shaped bunkers and greens,
the layout has water hazards on 15 of its 18 holes. The premier
golf course in Fiji & the South Pacific is a Par 72, 18
hole resort course with driving range & practice putting
green.
Pacific Harbour Golf Club:
Championship course designed by Robert Trent Jones. It is
the only golf course in the Pacific Islands that is fully
sprinklered and irrigated, and has electric golf carts. There
are a selection of holes of great character.
Other courses include: Ba Golf Club, Fiji Golf Club (Suva),
Koro Sun Course, labasa Golf Club, lautoka Golf Club, Nadi
Airport Golf Club, Penang Golf Club, Reef Hotel Golf Club,
Fijian Resort Golf Course, Taveuni Soqulu Plantation, Toberua
Pitch ‘n’ Putt, The Naviti, The Warwick, Vatukula
Golf Club, Wakaya Golf Course, Vomo Island.
Surfing
Not a lot of people know that Fiji has some awesome surfing.
Tavarua Island is the most outstanding spot with a right hand
break right on the main beach. You can surf almost up to the
bar. The waves are amazing - big, strong and tubular! Another
off-shore sight is “Cloud Break”. It is in the
middle of nowhere, several miles from Tavarua Island. The
seas rise up to produce some of the best surf you will find
anywhere - right in the middle of the ocean. If you feel like
staying on the mainland, there is great surfing from Hideaway
Resort on the Coral Coast and the Sigatoka Sand Dunes provide
a few hidden surprises. Board shorts will suffice as water
is pretty warm year round (cooler Jun - Aug). Bring hat, sunblock,
rash vest, board shorts, booties and small first aid kit.
Escapism
Fiji is a beautiful place to lose yourself for a while. Whilst
everywhere in the country will embrace you with it’s
“island time” laid back attitude, the islands
of the north are the most remote locations. You can do all
this escaping in anything from 3 - 5 star luxury. Some resorts
have only a few bures, so very limited guest numbers. Find
one in the following pages that suits you! Enjoy the activities
provided or hide away in your home away from home.
