Return to Alice Springs and visit the Desert Park to learn about Australian desert habitats and the wide array of plants and animals that live within them. (L)

Day 3 The Olgas, Ayers Rock Sunset Drinks
Stop at a camel farm en route to Ayers Rock Resort. Visit Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) and enjoy a glass of wine as the sun sets over Uluru (Ayers Rock). Accommodation: Ayers Rock Resort, Outback Pioneer (Standard), Desert Gardens (First Class), Sails in the Desert (Deluxe) for two nights.

Day 4 Uluru Touring, “Sounds of Silence”
Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee as the sun rises over Uluru (Ayers Rock). Take a guided walk to Mutitjulu waterhole to see cave paintings and hear the legends of Kuniya Tjukurpa (Python Dreaming). Tour the base of Uluru and learn about the region’s geology and flora on the Mala Walk. Explore Kantju Gorge, then visit the Cultural Center and possibly see Aboriginal artists at work. Or, forego the Mutitjulu and Mala walks to climb Uluru and stand 1141 feet above the desert floor. Tonight, dine under the stars at the “Sounds of Silence” dinner in the desert. Note: Anangu, traditional owners, prefer that visitors not climb Uluru. The climb may be closed without notice due to weather or cultural reasons. No refunds will be given in this situation. (D)
