Day 1 Nourlangie Rock, Yellow Water Cruise
Depart Darwin and travel into World Heritage-listed
Kakadu National Park. Visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural
Center and gain an insight into the cultural and historical
significance the park holds for its traditional owners. Join
a guided boat cruise on Yellow Water, Kakadu’s most famous
wetland area. Keep a look out for the powerful saltwater
crocodiles, diverse birdlife and beautiful waterlilies. After
lunch travel to Nourlangie art sites and view the ancient art
galleries. The unique x-ray style works record the traditional
cultures, changes and evolution of the land and people over the
last 40,000 years. Accommodation: Kakadu, Aurora Kakadu
(Standard) or Gagadju Crocodile Holiday Inn (First Class) (L)
Day 2 Ubirr, East Alligator River Cruise
Take a morning flight over the Arnhem Land Escarpment
(optional, own expense). Travel to Ubirr to see superbly
preserved Aboriginal rock art before joining an Aboriginal
guide for a cruise on the East Alligator River. Learn of the
flora, fauna, Aboriginal mythology and history of the region,
and by special permission, take a short walk into Arnhem
Land. Visit the Bowali Visitor Center and stop at Window
on the Wetlands for a glass of wine while watching the
changing light of day over the wetlands. (L)
